The Headteacher is seeking to recruit a Key Stage 2 Curriculum Lead to join our dedicated and compassionate team at Samuel Cody School based primarily at our SEMH Unit (Cody Oaks). As a specialist provision, we have high aspirations for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. The aims of the post of Curriculum Lead are to:
Promote the development of the Curriculum Area
Ensure that learning is the core purpose of the Curriculum Area
Foster high achievement and excellence within the Curriculum Area ensuring that students are encouraged and supported
Support the professional and personal development of staff regarding subject knowledge across the Curriculum
To work alongside other Curriculum Leads to develop the curriculum to enable the smooth transition of students both into Cody Oaks and across the key stages
Staff Responsibilities in relation to staff are to:
Monitor the content of the curriculum to ensure that it meets statutory guidelines and conditions.
Working with the alongside the Senior Leadership Team to ensure opportunities are provided for the professional development of staff, ensuring that they are up-to-date with developments in the subject area in order to improve the quality of learning and teaching
Support Newly Qualified Teachers and Beginning Teachers within the Curriculum Area, in co-operation with Senior Leadership Team member(s) and other staff such as the Teaching & Learning Lead
Establish clear procedures for consultation with staff in the Curriculum Area
Lead Curriculum meetings to discuss/disseminate information to teaching and support staff
Work alongside the Senior Leadership Team to moderate the teaching of these areas in line with the self-evaluation process
Responsibilities in relation to the Curriculum are to:
Ensure that suitable schemes of work are planned and prepared and take account of internal and external developments and requirements as well as school policies and aims so that the Curriculum is effectively delivered to students of all abilities
Develop, monitor and evaluate schemes of work (Brief and Detailed Overviews) and update as appropriate
Initiate Curriculum discussion and ensure that there is constant review of teaching approaches and subject content, in line with the National Curriculum so that students can progress within school across all Key Stages
Provide information, as necessary, to the Assistant Head Teacher, SLT, parents, teachers and governors about the work of the Curriculum Area
Responsible for monitoring the delivery of provision by teaching staff regarding curriculum content
To promote parental engagement in the work of the curriculum area and provide a range of opportunities for parents to be involved in supporting their child’s learning
To organise and encourage appropriate school trips/visits/fieldwork linked to the curriculum area
