Job Introduction

Brockhurst Primary School Governing Board is looking to appoint an enthusiastic person as a member of its committed team . This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in continuing to developing the growth and potential of our school as well as fostering more links between the school and the local community. Brockhurst Primary School values its pupils, staff, parents, community and governors.

As a governor your enthusiasm and commitment will be essential in participating as a team member to carry out the governing bodies’ strategic functions:

- To set strategic direction by ensuring there is clarity of vision, that stakeholders are engaged and statutory duties are met

- To create robust accountability for teaching, achievement, behaviour and safety and strengthen and sustain the quality and performance of the Leadership team

- To ensure financial probity and value for money

- To act as an advocate for the school, supporting its reputation and fostering confidence among pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community

As a newly appointed governor we ask that you will:

- Undertake a school Induction programme

- Participate in a Governor Services run Induction Course for New Governors

- Attend Full Governing Body meetings which are scheduled once each half term and always on a Tuesday evening starting at 16.30 lasting approximately two hours

- Be a fully involved member of either the Resources Committee or Pay committee which also meet on Tuesdays at 17.00, but online rather than in person.

- Uphold the Governors Code of Conduct

- Commit to at least annual training to ensure you are up to date with Governors statutory duties.
