Job Introduction
Interviews will take place during week beginning 23 February 2026
The Hamble School is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and skilled School Staff Instructor (SSI) to support and lead within our new Combined Cadet Force (CCF) provision. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school experiencing increasing popularity, with 1,090 students currently on roll, and recently judged ‘Good’ in all areas (Ofsted, March 2025).
Our vision – ‘We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together’ – encapsulates everything we do. As we continue to provide the very best education for all students, we are seeking a motivated individual who shares our high expectations and commitment to excellence.
The SSI will be a central figure in the smooth and effective running of the CCF, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality military and adventure training, supporting staff, and developing the leadership skills of our cadets.
This position is an excellent opportunity for someone aspiring to develop or further expand their leadership experience. While the role is centred on CCF operations, there will be opportunities for wider whole-school responsibilities for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver inspiring, safe and effective training to cadets across all sections.
- Develop the leadership potential of cadet NCOs.
- Support and train adult volunteers and school staff involved in CCF.
- Manage the armoury, equipment stores, and maintain all related records and systems in line with MoD and school policies.
- Plan and support field days, weekend training, residential camps and wider CCF activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Contingent Commander and senior leaders to shape the future development of the CCF at The Hamble School.
- Provide logistical and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
The new SSI will have drive, commitment to improve outcomes and a ‘can do’ attitude. In return, we can offer you:
• a positive and optimistic working environment focused on staff well-being, student welfare, progress and high standards of achievement and behaviour;
• strong internal and external training development opportunities;
• personal career development to assist you in the fulfilment of your ambitions;
• a well-equipped campus with excellent gym and swimming facilities run by Everyone Active which staff can take advantage of for free;
• the opportunity to apply for discounted childcare placements with Hamble Early Years Centre, based directly next to the school;
• free on-site parking and good local public transport links to the school (bus/ rail).
We welcome visits to the school to see us in action and invite you to come and have an informal chat meet the Headteacher.
