We have an exciting opportunity for a two-term secondment for an experienced class teacher who has an interest in SEND/SEMH, starting in January 2026.
We are seeking a dedicated class teacher who will lead our bespoke provision for a group of pupils presenting with social, emotional and mental health needs. The aim of this provision, that is already starting to take shape, is to increase our pupils' sense of belonging to enable them to thrive, achieve success and reintegrate into their whole class environment. They will take responsibility for creating and implementing a curriculum both academic and behavioural, tailoring interventions to promote emotional intelligence, improve wellbeing, develop social skills and personal growth.
Working closely with the Hamwic SEND team, this role would suit an individual that would like the opportunity to broaden their experience and develop their expertise. Part of this role will be to create a blueprint for a provision that can be implemented in other schools, with both within the local authority and Hamwic, to deliver a bespoke trauma- informed and nurture-based provision that meets a vast range of needs for a small group of pupils.

- Able to create a stimulating and inclusive environment for all pupils
- Is enthusiastic and resilient
- Is imaginative and reflective on adapting the provision
- Has good communication skills to liaise with class teachers, senior leaders and external agencies
- Is skilled at building good relationships with parents and staff
- Is looking to further develop their practice
- Has the ability to lead a small team
