Location: Bridgemary School

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (Year-Round)

Hours: 37 hours per week, shift patterns between 6:00 AM and 10.00 PM

Salary: Grade C Point 1 £26017 per annum starting salary

Bridgemary School  is seeking a dedicated Site & Maintenance Assistant to join our hard-working premises team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and fully operational for our students, staff, and visitors.

If you are a proactive problem-solver who enjoys variety in their work—from minor repairs to setting up event spaces—we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities 

  • General Maintenance: Carry out first-line repairs, minor DIY, painting, decorating, and basic repair tasks.
  • Security & Safety: Assist with the opening and closing of the school buildings, routinely checking security systems, and maintaining clear emergency exits.
  • Grounds & Porterage: Keep the school grounds tidy, manage waste disposal, and handle deliveries or the moving of furniture for school events and exams.
  • Health & Safety: Conduct routine safety checks, including water hygiene logging, fire alarm testing, and reporting any major hazards to the Site Manager.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • Practical Skills: Proven experience in general maintenance, caretaking, or a specific trade (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, painting).
  • Problem Solvers: An ability to work on your own initiative, manage a varied workload, and respond quickly to urgent issues.
  • Team Players: A friendly, approachable professional who communicates effectively with school staff and contractors.
  • Safety Minded: Awareness of health and safety regulations (COSHH, manual handling) is highly desirable, though training will be provided.
