Site Security

  • Opening and locking the school, including gates and buildings.
  • Allowing access for contractors and visitors as needed.
  • Responding to intruders or emergencies, including out-of-hours call-outs.
  • Regularly testing and operating fire and intruder alarms.

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Carrying out minor repairs and decorating (e.g. painting, plumbing, carpentry).
  • Reporting building issues and helping arrange emergency repairs.
  • Supporting contractors on site and checking work is completed properly.

Minibus Driving (if applicable)

  • Driving the school minibus for trips or collections (MIDAS training provided if needed).
  • Carrying out regular checks and cleaning of the minibus.
  • Reporting any faults or damage promptly.

Cleaning & Supplies

  • Cleaning designated areas of the school as required.
  • Issuing and restocking items like soap, toilet rolls, and paper towels.
  • Supporting lettings and school events with cleaning and caretaking duties.

General Duties

  • Moving furniture and equipment around the site.
  • Checking deliveries and helping distribute items.
  • Responding to emergencies such as snow, flooding, or break-ins.
  • Following all health and safety procedures, including using PPE and checking the asbestos register before work.

What We’re Looking For

  • A team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to help.
  • Someone who takes pride in keeping the school safe and looking its best.
  • A full, clean driving licence is desirable (D1 category and MIDAS training are a bonus but not essential).

Additional Info

  • Some overtime may be required for school events or lettings.
  • Working hours may vary during school holidays or to cover absences.
  • Holidays can be taken during term time, but availability may be limited during key periods such as exams.
