Salary Type:   Support Staff

Salary Details:   B1-C1, £19,481 - £24,405

Hours of work:   Flexible, between 30-37 hrs per week. This may include shifts starting at 7.30am or 10.00am, however, hours of work are fully negotiable.

Location of Role:   Endeavour Primary School, required to work across King and Kirk Campus (predominantly on our Kirk Campus)

 

Job/Person Summary

We are looking to appoint a Caretaker who will report directly to our Site Manager. We are looking for someone who is proactive, has a bright outlook, good integrity and has good timekeeping. The successful candidate will need to provide caretaking, cleaning and a routine maintenance service to meet the needs of the school, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and operational effectiveness. This will also include being compliant with all health and safety requirements.

The role will be overseeing our Kirk Campus, however you will be required to work across both campuses and adapt to the school needs, therefore, a flexible approach to working is essential.

Ideally, you will hold a full driving licence and have some practical/maintenance work experience. An understanding of basic Health and safety and the ability to do lifting is essential. Some basic IT skills would be an advantage. Please note, that it is not essential to have previously undertaken the role of a caretaker in a school, full training will be provided.

The role will include:

  • Carrying out routine maintenance repairs as requested
  • Move goods and school equipment within the school
  • Monitor stocks of cleaning products and PPE
  • Maintain paper and online recording systems
  • Supervise contractors on site ensuring all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to
  • Provide cover in the event of cleaning staff absence
  • Lock and unlock the site including activate and deactivate intruder alarm system
  • Carry out Health and Safety checks
  • Maintain an awareness of HCC and school specific Health and Safety policies and procedures and apply them in the day-to-day job requirements
  • Manual Handling and awareness of COSHH regulations
  • Ensuring the grounds are maintained, including bins, paths and any damage to external school property
