Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo)

Job Introduction

About Us:
At Ecchinswell and Sydmonton CE Primary School, we pride ourselves on being a warm, welcoming, and highly inclusive school where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. In 2023, we were delighted to be recognised by Ofsted as “highly inclusive,” a testament to our commitment to providing outstanding support for all learners, especially those with special educational needs.

We are looking for an inspiring, compassionate, and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to lead and enhance our inclusive provision. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children within a close-knit community, where staff, parents, and pupils work collaboratively to create an environment where everyone thrives.

About the Role:
As our new SENCo, you will play a key role in leading, coordinating, and monitoring the support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school. You will work closely with the headteacher, teachers, teaching assistants, and parents to ensure that the needs of all our pupils are met effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing inclusive practices and strategies to support children with a range of needs.

  • Ensuring the school’s SEND provision meets national standards and reflects best practice.

  • Providing guidance, training, and support for staff working with SEND pupils.

  • Overseeing individual education plans (IEPs) and regularly reviewing progress.

  • Building strong relationships with parents and external agencies.

  • Monitoring and tracking pupil progress, and maintaining accurate records.

What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a passionate, qualified SENCo who has:

  • A deep commitment to inclusion and a genuine desire to make a difference to children’s lives.

  • A relevant SEN qualification and experience in a SENCo role.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • The ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including staff, parents, and external professionals.

  • A positive, proactive approach to problem-solving and an empathetic nature.

  • A deep understanding of current SEND legislation and best practices.

Why Choose Us?

  • A supportive and inclusive working environment with a dedicated team.

  • Ofsted recognition for being ‘highly inclusive’ – a school that truly values every pupil.

  • A beautiful village location, with close links to the wider community.

  • A strong emphasis on wellbeing, for both staff and pupils.

If you are an experienced and enthusiastic SENCo looking to make a real difference in a school that truly celebrates inclusion, we would love to hear from you.
