We are seeking a caring, committed and adaptable Special Needs Assistant (SNA) to provide dedicated support for a pupil with complex communication, learning, sensory and social needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by helping a child develop communication, independence and emotional regulation within a supportive school environment.
About the Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support throughout the school day and adapt support to meet changing needs
- Help the pupil communicate using visuals, signs and simple language
- Support engagement in learning through structured, multi-sensory activities
- Deliver regular small group and individual interventions
- Use strategies such as visual timetables, now/next, and task based routines
- Support emotional regulation, turn-taking and social development
- Provide sensory breaks and access to regulation tools
- Assist with personal care, including toileting routines
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and outside professionals

Essential:
- Patient, nurturing and consistent approach
- Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly communication needs
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships
- Understanding of behaviour and communication
- Willingness to support personal care needs
- Knowledge of Makaton/visual communication systems
Desirable:
- Experience with Attention Autism/sensory strategies
- Understanding of EHCP provision
