Springwell School, rated Outstanding in each of our last four Ofsted inspections, sits on the edge of Southampton and is a large, designated day special school for children aged 4–11. Our pupils have a range of complex learning needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties and behaviours that may challenge.

We are seeking to appoint a Level 2 Sports Coach. You will teach PE across the primary age range for children with a variety of complex academic, physical and emotional/behavioural needs. This could be on a class, group or individual basis. You will benefit from excellent facilities and equipment including the school hall, multi-sensory rooms, hydrotherapy pool, large playing field, trim trails and MUGA.

Your contribution
- Work with individuals or groups, providing PPA cover through PE lessons
- support and motivate the children and encourage independent learning
- to contribute, monitor and record pupil’s progress
- encourage and support good behaviour acting as a positive role model
- can deal with challenging behaviour and provide welfare support in accordance with school policies
What will you need?
- UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification, or equivalent
- GCSE Grade C (4-9) or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- previous experience of coaching and leading PE lessons
- ability to plan PE/coaching sessions for children with complex needs
- excellent understanding and experience of working with children with complex needs
- to engage and motivate children through PE
- proven teaching strategies such as PECS
- Excellent communication skills
- ability to liaise with staff at all levels
- have enthusiasm, reliability and resilience
- strong sense of team work
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding

Working pattern – 30 Hours, term time only
Monday & Friday: 8.45 am – 3:15 pm
Tuesday – Thursday: 8:55 am – 3:15 pm
