The Role
We are looking for a teacher who can:
- Work with a small group of up to four pupils, teaching Reading, Writing, Maths, Science, and Humanities, including being their tutor with the responsibilities that come with this role.
- Build trusting relationships with students who may have had difficult experiences in education before.
- Deliver lessons that are engaging, accessible, and tailored to meet individual needs, celebrating the small wins that make a big difference.
- Encourage curiosity, confidence, and independence in every learner, no matter where their starting point is.
- Work closely with our supportive staff team to make sure every child has the best possible experience at school, including following New Avenue’s policies and procedures in all areas.
- Communicate positively and effectively with all stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Understands and connects: You’re either experienced in working with children with SEMH needs or passionate about learning how to.
- Brings creativity and adaptability: You enjoy making learning exciting and meaningful, even for children who might not find school easy.
- Is patient and encouraging: You know that progress takes time and that small successes are worth celebrating.
- Loves being part of a team: You value working with others and want to contribute to the warm, welcoming atmosphere at New Avenue.
- Wants to keep learning: Whether you’re an experienced teacher or new to the role, we’ll support your career development with CPD opportunities that match your interests.
