Job Introduction
Great Oaks School is seeking passionate Class Teachers to join our team, supporting young people aged 11–19 with a wide range of special educational needs. We currently have two teaching opportunities available: one permanent Class Teacher vacancy and one maternity cover Class Teacher vacancy.
This post is suitable for Teachers with experience of working in specialist settings as well as teachers looking to make a make a move into special education. Due to the developmental and learning needs of students at Great Oaks, the role is well-suited to teachers with experience of the primary or early years curriculum.
Teaching posts are available in Pathway 1 and Pathway 2:
Pathway 1 supports pupils with severe and complex learning needs through a highly personalised, sensory‑based curriculum, with a strong focus on communication, regulation, engagement and personal development.
Pathway 2 supports pupils with complex learning needs through a semi‑formal curriculum, combining practical and experiential learning with developing independence, life skills and emerging academic skills.
We offer a strong induction programme, high‑quality training and ongoing professional support, including coaching and mentoring, to ensure staff feel confident and well supported in their role.
Applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are warmly welcomed, with tailored induction and mentoring in place.
