The Mathematics Department

 

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the full time post of Mathematics Teacher required for September 2025.      

 

We are looking for a dynamic and inspired Teacher who has a passion for the subject and is committed to developing students.  HTC have a reputation for providing outstanding support for staff and students and we are committed to providing the highest quality of learning for all students in every lesson.   We have an OFSTED rating of outstanding and good (Nov 2024). 

 

We would like to invite applications from dynamic, enthusiastic and committed Teachers to work in our innovative, forward-thinking department.  This post would suit an ECT or experienced Maths Teacher with a passion for this subject.   Applications from Early Career Teachers due to qualify this summer are welcomed.  We comprehensively support all new staff and have tailored programs for ECT’s, staff returning to the profession and those seeking a career change.  The College is committed to professional development and will seek, where possible, to support staff in their ambitions to further themselves.

 

The department has Outstanding results at KS3 and at GCSE. C.c.80% Grade 9-4 over the last 5 years.  Our results are amongst the highest in South East Hants and are due to our relentless focus on teaching, learning and sharing.   

 

The Mathematics team consists of ten staff, eight of which are full-time.  All staff have the opportunity, to teach students who will be entered for the higher-level examination in Year 10 or 11.  The Subject Leader is supported by two Assistant Subject Leaders and a Technology College Status representative.  We have a department workroom for staff, a department resource area and access to dedicated ICT suites.  

 

On entry to the College Year 7 students are taught in tutor groups for the first month and then placed in either a mixed ability, or higher achieving set using KS2 results and internal assessments.  We group by ability for those studying the higher maths specification in Year 10, and all our foundation groups are mixed ability. 

 

The College has excellent facilities and technical support in respect of reprographic, video recording/playback and information technology provision.  The learning resource areas are imaginatively resourced, and this sphere of provision is continuing to develop as rapidly as finances allow.

 

Staff new to the College are expected to take part in a comprehensive induction programme designed to foster the common maintenance and development of the College’s ethos and practices.
