Teacher Vacancy - start date April 2026 (or February 2026)

Portway Junior School is a popular junior school in Andover. We are a happy, friendly and welcoming school who are committed to providing an inclusive and rounded education for all of our children. Staff and governors are mutually supportive and work hard to improve outcomes for all of our children. We are fortunate to have a friendly and experienced staff team and spacious buildings and grounds 

We are looking to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic and compassionate part-time teacher for February or April 2026. This role would be to teach a small class of children with special educational needs every morning, providing personalised and engaging learning. Over time there may be requirements for mainstream whole class teaching. You will create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. 

Key responsibilities:

• Plan, deliver, and assess imaginative, differentiated lessons

• Develop and implement personalised learning plans

• Manage children’s behaviour effectively using positive strategies.

• Collaborate closely with SENDCo, Teaching Assistants, therapists (SLT, OT, etc.), parents, and external professionals.

• Maintain accurate records, write reports, and attend review meetings.

• Foster children’s social and emotional development  

Who we're looking for:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with SEN experience.

• Genuine passion and innovative approach to supporting SEN.

• Patience, resilience, excellent communication, and self-reflective skills.

• Experience and knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and/or experience of teaching groups of children with SEND is desirable.
