Job Introduction
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, committed Teaching Assistant to join our specialist Resource Provision, The Beacon. This is an exciting opportunity for a team player with a genuine passion for inclusion and a strong understanding of the vital role that relationships play in supporting young people to thrive in school.
The successful candidate will work closely with a dedicated team to support students with Autism, ADHD and Anxiety, many of whom experience Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Since joining The Beacon, many of our pupils have significantly increased their attendance and engagement with learning. We are proud to be recognised locally as a centre of excellence for inclusive practice, demonstrating how mainstream schools can truly meet the needs of neurodiverse learners.
The Beacon is a bespoke, nurturing area of the school that supports neurodiverse students both within the resource provision and in their mainstream lessons. Our approach is highly personalised, relationship-led and responsive, ensuring pupils feel safe, understood and supported to access education successfully.
As a Teaching Assistant in The Beacon, you will:
- Support teachers delivering a range of academic and vocational subjects to small groups of students
- Work alongside pupils in their mainstream lessons, providing in-class support and facilitating successful inclusion
- Assist students with transitions, emotional regulation and engagement throughout the school day
- Be part of a close, collaborative team that values reflection, flexibility and creativity
This role offers genuine scope for development. As The Beacon continues to grow, the responsibilities of the role will evolve to reflect the skills, interests and strengths of the successful candidate.
We believe deeply in the importance of a broad, meaningful curriculum. Students supported by The Beacon access a wide range of subjects and enrichment opportunities, including outdoor education, horticulture and animal care.
We are equally committed to developing our staff. If you have a particular interest, skill or passion that you would like to develop into a curriculum offer or enrichment activity, we would be excited to hear about it.
Our ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about inclusion and neurodiversity
- Calm, patient and emotionally attuned
- A strong team player who values relationships
- Committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning
This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people and be part of an innovative, inclusive provision.
