At Longparish CE Primary School, we are dedicated to fostering a love of learning for all our children, in a safe and stimulating environment. Our vision is to equip our pupils with the skills and values they need to become good citizens who appreciate diversity and contribute positively to society. We are currently seeking a passionate and committed Teaching Assistant to join our team for a short-term contract.

Role Overview:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and emotional needs of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes high standards of achievement and well-being.

As a short term contract this role may help you take your first steps into a career in education as a Teaching Assistant, or may suit you for other reasons. Should you have no prior experience we have an experienced team to support, guide and mentor you.  We are genuinely open to your application and are happy to answer any questions you may have, or to show you around our school prior to the interview date if you wish

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, promoting high self-esteem, independence, and social inclusion.
  • Support the development and delivery of individual education, support, and care plans.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of differentiated learning activities for all pupils.
  • Foster a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere, encouraging participation in learning and extracurricular activities.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policy.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers on attainment and barriers to learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment, organising resources effectively.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Can communicate effectively with children and understand how to offer them security
  • Understands child development and barriers to learning
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly with those who have SEND.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive approach to supporting teaching and learning, with a passion for fostering a love of learning.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
