The Governors of Sharps Copse Primary School are seeking to appoint 2 enthusiastic, self-motivated and dedicated Teaching Assistants or Higher-level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) with positive, caring and committed approaches to children and their educational needs.

If you are passionate about making learning irresistible and enabling children to achieve their very best within a supportive team, then this position could suit you.  We are seeking to appoint happy, flexible and organised people with a sense of humour to work in classrooms with highly professional and exceptional practitioners.  The roles will involve working to support learning in the classroom, preparing resources and supporting children and their class teachers within our caring, lively, creative and committed school.

As part of the role, if appropriate to your experience and qualification, you will provide classroom cover for teachers’ PPA and/or Leadership time, as well as covering classes as the necessity arises, and you will be a role model for the highest standards in professional classroom support.

 Applicants should ideally have/be:

  •  a minimum of 2 years relevant experience together with a NVQ3 Teaching Assistant or     equivalent qualification (HLTA);
  •  excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills and relevant qualifications ie, 5 GCSE’s   at Grades A-C including maths and English;
  •  a working knowledge of the expectations of KS1 and KS2 children, particularly literacy and   numeracy requirements and other relevant curriculum knowledge (HLTA);
  •  professionally discreet and able to respect confidentiality on particular issues;
  •  well-developed interpersonal and initiative skills;
  •  a sense of humour enabling effective relationships with a variety of people and be a team   player.

Experience, whilst desirable is not essential as support will be provided for the right candidate. Salary scales will be dependent on qualifications and experience, but will be within Hampshire County Councils pay framework; Scale B (Role profile 2130) or C (Role profile 2131) for a Teaching Assistant, FTE £24,796 - £26,244 (approx. £12.85 – £13.60 per hour) and Scale D (Role profile 2132) for a HLTA Level 1, FTE £27,780- £30,564 (approx. £14.40 - £15.84).

The post is term time, for 30 hours per week from 8.30am to 3.15pm, Monday to Friday with 45 mins for lunch and is a temporary post on a fixed term contract.
