Job Introduction
We are looking for a confident and caring person to join our team of committed support staff within our wraparound care facility at Wickham Church of England Primary School.
Working hours are 7.30 am until 9 am, and 3pm until 4.30pm Monday to Friday but we would also consider part-time for the right person (mornings or afternoons).
Whilst we are ideally looking for a candidate with prior experience of working directly with children, we would also consider applications from those who have an interest in this role. Although the contract is fixed-term, there is a very strong possibility that it will become permanent in the future.
We are incredibly proud of our school community, which truly feels like one ‘big family’. Our shared school values of love, respect and courage underpin all areas of school life.
We are located in the heart of the historic village of Wickham, only a few minutes’ drive from the town of Fareham and easily accessible from the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton. Our grounds are extensive and are surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Meon Valley.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Patience, flexibility and the ability to work on their own initiative
- The ability to positively interact with children
- A sense of humour and lots of positivity
The role will include:
- To provide a range of stimulating activities, indoor and outdoor, relevant to the age and needs of young children
- To provide and prepare safe nutritional snacks for children
- Ensure the welfare and safety of children within our care
- Promote good behaviour
- Treat all children as individuals and have a secure knowledge and understanding of their needs while they are in our care
- To act as a first aider
- Motivate and encourage the children to participate in activities
- Ensure a clean, tidy environment conducive to fostering good health and safety practice
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Safer Recruitment
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
