Are you looking for your next step towards Senior Leadership? Herne Junior School has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and ambitious professional to join our hard-working and friendly team senior leadership team. Currently the role is fixed term until August 2026 but has the potential to become full-time.

We are located in the heart of the beautiful, South Downs market town of Petersfield, with excellent connections into London. In addition to our lovely local area, the school site itself benefits from excellent facilities including: extensive school grounds with our own round house, allotment and dedicated forest school area; a large computer suite and dedicated nurture facilities

The TLR responsibilities will include:

  • Leading year planning
  • Supporting teaching within their year group
  • Coaching staff
  • Pastoral lead for a year group
  • Being an example for high quality teaching across the school
  • Overview of the deployment of support staff in the classroom
  • Overview for ensuring all pupils reach their potential
  • Line management of the teaching and support staff in their year group
  • Strategic planning for the delivery of the curriculum in their year group
  • Contributing to the development of the SIP

The ideal candidate will:

  • be flexible in terms of year group
  • be confident in leading practice in line with school policies
  • have demonstrated impact in terms of school improvement
  • behave with professionalism, have a calm manner and be resilient
  • have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • be self-motivated and with personal drive
  • have tact and diplomacy in all interpersonal relationships with pupils and colleagues at work
  • be able to develop good working relationships within the school community
