Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – EYFS
Marnel Infant School, Basingstoke

Marnel Infant School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our thriving Early Years team.

We are proud to have recently been appointed by the Department for Education as a Lead School for the RISE Reception Networks, supporting schools across the South East region to develop and strengthen Early Years practice. As a result of this exciting opportunity, we are looking to recruit a dedicated professional with relevant HLTA qualifications and proven experience of working within a Reception (Year R) setting.

This varied and rewarding role will include:

  • Supporting high-quality teaching and learning within EYFS

  • Providing some whole-class teaching cover to enable staff to work with partner schools across the South East

  • Working closely with the EYFS team to maintain an engaging, inspiring and nurturing learning environment

  • Supervising and supporting children during lunchtime within the class and within a lunchtime play zone

Core working hours are:

  • Monday: 8.15am – 3.15pm

  • Tuesday to Friday: 8.30am – 3.30pm

There may also be opportunities for additional paid hours to:

  • Support the preparation and set-up of the learning environment

  • Work within the school’s After School Club, which operates until 6.00pm

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds HLTA status or has equivalent experience or relevant qualifications

  • Has a minimum of GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent qualification) in English and Maths

  • Has strong experience working within EYFS/Year R

  • Is passionate about Early Years education and child development

  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Is flexible, proactive and committed to supporting all children to flourish
