Job Introduction
We are a warm, welcoming and ambitious primary school at the heart of our community, and we are seeking an exceptional Administrative Officer to join our team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to step into a well-established role, as our current postholder will be leaving us after an incredible 10 years of dedicated service. As such, we are looking for someone truly special—an individual who will build on strong foundations while bringing fresh ideas, energy and professionalism to our school office.
The school office is the central hub of our school, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring its smooth, efficient and friendly operation. You will be the first point of contact for parents, visitors and staff, embodying the ethos and values of our school in every interaction. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will oversee administration, finance, HR processes, compliance, and communication, ensuring that everything runs seamlessly behind the scenes so that our children can thrive.
We are committed to supporting the successful candidate with a comprehensive handover and shadowing period starting in July if possible, allowing time to learn systems, build relationships and feel confident before taking full ownership of the role.
What we are looking for:
- A highly organised and proactive individual
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership ability to manage and support office staff
- High levels of discretion and confidentiality
- A calm and professional manner under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence in managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- A welcoming and approachable presence for visitors and families
- Commitment to safeguarding and compliance requirements
- A positive, solution-focused attitude
The successful applicant will need:
- Proven experience working in a school office environment
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and school systems
- Experience of financial administration and budgeting processes
- Understanding of HR and safer recruitment procedures
- Knowledge of GDPR and data management requirements
- Ability to manage admissions processes and pupil data
- Experience maintaining records such as the Single Central Register
- Confidence in managing contractors, procurement and resources
- Ability to oversee school communications and website updates
- Excellent written and numeracy skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school
If you are passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a supportive, dedicated team, we would love to hear from you.
Visits to the school are welcomed and strongly encouraged.
