After School Club Leader

Job Introduction

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and energetic After School Club Leader to join our team and lead our after school provision. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with children and creating a safe, fun, and stimulating environment.

The role is for 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Term Time only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and deliver a range of engaging activities for children age 4-7
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care
  • Manage a small team of staff, ensuring activities run smoothly
  • Provide healthy snacks and drinks in line with dietary requirements
  • Build strong relationships with children, parents, and school staff
  • Maintain accurate records, including registers, incident logs, and health and safety checks

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be creative and can come up with ideas for activities for the children to engage in
  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Have a caring, patient approach towards children
  • Have a positive approach that supports the schools’ visions and values
  • Have strong interpersonal skills with children and adults
  • Be a team player with a professional attitude
  • Is able to use their own initiative

Essential:

  • Experience working with children in a school or play setting
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Ability to engage and motivate children through creative activities
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety procedures
  • Has English and Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent qualification

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in childcare or playwork 
  • First Aid and Food Hygiene certificates (training can be provided)
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Has SEND experience (desirable)

Duties include

  • Setting up and clearing up the After School Club provision
  • Planning a weekly programme of activities
  • Supporting the children in a wide variety of active games and quieter small group activities including board games, construction, arts and crafts and indoor and outdoor sporting activities
  • Responsibility for children’s safeguarding, health and well-being needs 
  • Following procedures to dismiss children to their carer at the end of the session
  • Complete relevant paperwork in line with the role and responsibilities
  • Line management of the play workers
  • Food preparation and monitoring stock levels
  • Purchasing food and equipment as necessary
  • First Aid
