Afterschool Club Leader

Job Introduction

Job/Person Summary

We are looking for an inspirational leader to provide afterschool care for the pupils ensuring that they can develop personally, socially and educationally in a safe, caring and challenging environment

Relevant qualification and previous experience desirable. An up-to-date DBS check is essential, but will be carried out by the school if required. 

The core purpose:

  • To be responsible for day-to-day organisation of After School Club
  • To be responsible for the safety and welfare of all pupils during all activities.
  • To promote the aims and values of the school 

Safeguarding

  • Attend all safeguarding training 
  • Follow all school safeguarding polices and protocols
  • Read, understand and action all safeguarding information
  • Ensure you have access to CPOMS via two factor authentication

Delivery of a service

  • To ensure safeguarding and wellbeing of all children in your care
  • To work well with the Afterschool Assistant  
  • To ensure that any absentees are followed up swiftly
  • To model play
  • To interact and sit with the children
  • To encourage children in developing their social skills
  • Work as a team to monitor the welfare of the children at After School Club, ensuring their emotional and physical wellbeing 
  • To plan sessions – some themed
  • To administer First Aid as appropriate
  • Work alongside other professionals to ensure positive and appropriate learning environment 
  • Ensure appropriate records are kept e.g., CPOMS
  • To work effectively with other stakeholders (office/teachers)
  • To ensure positive, strong relationships based on respect and promoting communication
  • To display a problem-solving attitude when faced with problems 

Parent liaison

  • To ensure safe collection of children from their parents 
  • To maintain a good relationship with parents and carers
  • To liaise with parents about any issue that happened at the club 

Resources & environment

  • To rotate resources
  • Ensure all equipment is set up before the start of the session and that the equipment is tidied away and clean 
  • Ensure any reports of faults or damage are attended to immediately, liaising with line manager/caretaker of the building as required
  • To regularly audit resources and order resources 

Other duties

  • Prepare resources and food
  • Wash up as required
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene for the children, resources and environment
