St Francis School, part of the Federation of Heathfield and St Francis, is seeking an outstanding professional to join our senior leadership team as a three‑day Assistant Headteacher alongside a two‑day teaching commitment within KS4. This unique role offers the opportunity to shape whole‑school improvement while staying closely connected to the classroom and the pupils we serve.

We are seeking a highly skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic SEN teacher to lead our Primary Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated practitioner who believes in empowering pupils with complex needs to achieve their very best.
Assistant Headteacher (3 days)
The successful candidate will play a key role across St Francis School and the wider federation, contributing to strategic leadership, school development and high standards of practice. Responsibilities will include:
- Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team to drive the federation vision, values and improvement priorities.
- Leading on a key area of federation development (to be assigned post‑appointment
- Supporting high‑quality teaching and learning, including staff development, coaching and mentoring.
- Monitoring performance data, supporting target‑setting and evaluating impact.
- Acting as Accreditation Coordinator for St Francis.
- Undertaking the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Leading and contributing to policy development, self‑evaluation, and professional standards.
- Strengthening partnerships with families, therapists, colleagues, governors, and external agencies.
This is a senior leadership position requiring exemplary professionalism, integrity, communication, and commitment to the highest expectations.
KS4 Teacher (2 days)
Alongside leadership responsibilities, the post includes two days of teaching within our KS4 department. You will:
- Deliver high‑quality, personalised teaching for pupils with a diverse range of SEND needs.
- Plan, assess and adapt learning to ensure strong progress and engagement.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, communication strategies and resources to meet individual needs.
- Create a positive, safe, well‑organised learning environment.
- Manage Learning Support Assistants effectively.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, independence, behaviour regulation and life‑skills learning.
We are looking for a practitioner with outstanding classroom practice, creativity, resilience and a passion for KS4 pathways.

- Brings successful experience in senior or middle leadership.
- Demonstrates exceptional classroom practice and deep understanding of SEND.
- Can lead confidently and collaboratively, motivating others and modelling best practice.
