About Us
Lanterns Nursery School is a Hampshire maintained nursery offering high-quality early education and care for children aged 8 months to 5 years. We are proud to host 36 resourced places for children with SEND, supported by a dedicated and experienced team. Our inclusive ethos, neuro-affirming approach, and strong partnerships with families and professionals make Lanterns a truly special place to work and learn.
The Role
As Assistant SENDCo, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and delivering outstanding SEND provision across the school. Working closely with the Headteacher and SENDCo, you will:
Champion neuro-affirming practice and lead its integration across the school.
Support staff in delivering high-quality teaching and interventions.
Lead SEND-focused training, coaching, and induction for staff.
Build strong, supportive relationships with families, offering guidance and resources.
Oversee SEND resources and ensure an accessible learning environment.
Support EHC needs assessments and transition planning.
Collaborate with external professionals and contribute to whole-school development.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and proactive practitioner who:
Has experience working with children with SEND in the early years.
Understands the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive pedagogy.
Is confident in leading others and delivering training.
Values partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Is committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
