Behaviour Support Assistant - fixed term until 31/8/27

Job Introduction

We are looking to appoint an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant to join us in September 2026, who can work with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups for targeted support. Candidates will have experience of working in a school or similar settings working with children. This post also involves a lunch time cover for a class.


The successful candidate will:  


  • Have experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs in an education setting
  • Support pupils access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources
  • Assist in planning, evaluating and adjusting learning activities as appropriate
  • Assist the teacher with the development and implication of individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans
  • Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, in liaison with the SenCo, to support achievement and progress of children
  • Be able to form strong positive relationships with adults and children
  • Be able to motivate pupils and promote and develop self esteem
  • Have good behaviour management skills including use of PACE
  • Ideally be Team Teach trained
  • Be patient, calm, resilient and enthusiastic
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skill
