Caretaker
John Keble is a one form entry, village primary school based just outside Winchester, graded good by Ofsted (February 2024). We have a super opportunity for someone to join our team as a Caretaker. The role is school based so you would be in a child centred environment.
Are you responsible, enthusiastic, reliable and proactive and take pride in your working environment? Do you enjoy all aspects of DIY, grounds maintenance? If so, then we need you!
Duties will include:
- Key holder (unlocking and locking the site) including attending call outs.
- Ensuring the school site is tidy and safe
- Undertake redecoration and routine maintenance
- Carry out essential Health and Safety checks, eg fire checks, legionella.
- Using basic IT skills and ability to access email
- Liaising with outside organisations for repairs
The ideal candidate will:
- Enjoy being around children
- Good DIY skills
- Have the ability to prioritise workloads
- Good communication skills.
- Work professionally with interruptions, maintaining health and safety at all times.
- Knowledge of site health and safety.
- Be able to use computer based platforms (although training can be provided)

Hours: 3:15 PM – 6:15 PM, 42 weeks per year (holidays to be taken during school breaks)
Salary: Grade C starting at £24,405 (pro-rata, actual salary £7991.16)
