Are you interested in developing your skills and knowledge in supporting students with SENd in the classroom further? Our new Specialist Learning Support role (formally Teaching Assistant) offers you the chance to specialise and train in a core area of need within SENd. Any additional training will be fully funded, and we have access to fully accredited courses that can be completed alongside your working hours.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and committed person with good literacy and numeracy skills to join a friendly, supportive and ambitious department which has been newly developed to provided highly effective provision for our SEND students.

Role Purpose
- Carry specialist responsibility and support/mentor other staff in developing skills and knowledge.
- Carry specialist responsibility and support/mentor Students with their engagement, attendance and progress in school.
- Regularly liaise, monitor, meet and communicate with students in their care under the banner of their specialist field.
- To support SEND students in the classroom and faculty allocated to access learning and make expected progress.
- To complement and support the professional work of the Teacher to support task and learning activities.
- To support the progress of SEND students within the faculty and providing best practice resources and sharing ideas.
- To liaise with teacher within the allocated faculty with regards to curriculum and be prepared to support tasks and activities. This could include some pre-learning, responsive support in the classroom and additional interventions.
- Regularly liaise, monitor, meet and communicate with students in their care under the banner of their specialist field.
- Liaise with external agencies to invest and support specialist area as well as build CPD knowledge.
- Take ownership for liaising and disseminating key CPD and strategies to support students and teaching staff.
Essential
- An ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with students and colleagues.
- The capacity to develop an in-depth understanding of student's needs, in order to support them with effective approaches to learning and development.
- Commitment to participate fully in all areas of school life.
- Commitment to undertake additional training to support student needs.
- Willingness and engagement with educational research.
- An ability to adapt practise and contribute towards the extensive SEND vision.
Desirable
- Experience of working within an educational setting; practice of leading small group and 1:1 intervention sessions.
- Some experience of supporting students with a specific / specialist area of need.
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant.
Working hours are 32 hours 45 mins per week, Monday – Friday during term time.
