Job Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clerk to support our Governor's meetings. Meetings are currently held on Wednesday or Tuesday evenings starting at 6pm, although some flexibility of meeting times is required. The role is part time, 51 hours per year which covers:
- 45 hours clerking for the full board per year, based on 5 meetings per year, 9 hours per meeting, and 6 hours other administration time;
- Proactive support with agenda setting, including the production of a draft agenda for each meeting
- E-mailing and posting on-line the agenda and all supporting paperwork
- Attendance at meetings to take minutes and provide advice on governance issues, when required
- The preparation, amendment and issuing of the minutes within 14 days of the meeting
- General administrative support for the board including timetabling its work, monitoring policy reviews, assisting with governor recruitment, maintaining an accurate record of its membership, keeping a register of governor interests and their attendance at meetings, dealing with correspondence and filing.
Knowledge and experience of schools and governance is desirable but not essential. If you are an experienced Clerk, we would love to hear from you. We'd also love to hear from you if you have:
- Strong organisational and IT skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience at minute taking in confidential meetings with a wide range of attendees
