The Cover Supervisor role offers the successful candidates the perfect opportunity to become involved in the learning of young people. This can be a career in itself, or serve as a springboard to a teaching career or other work with young people in the future. We support our cover supervisors’ specialisms about which they are passionate, whilst also providing breadth of experience. The ability to work as a team and learn new skills is more important than previous experience, and full training will be provided.
Duties include supporting a mixture of classes during the absence of the regular class teacher, setting the work provided, monitoring/managing behaviour and keeping students on task as well as supporting teachers in the classroom. You will have high standards of expectation, deliver lively and engaging lessons from existing plans and support students by responding to questions. Although you will not be teaching, ensuring the students keep on task is most important, so good classroom management is essential. In quieter times, you may also be expected to provide classroom and technician support, exam invigilation and general admin support including working with the Senior Administrative Officer in organising pre planned cover timetables.
We will ensure that the successful candidate has:
- Comprehensive induction including a dedicated mentor.
- Continuous professional learning, development and improvement.
- The opportunity to contribute to raising standards for all our students.
