Job Introduction
“Learning together with love at the centre.”
St. Michael’s CE (Controlled) Infant School, Aldershot is a popular three-form entry school tucked away in beautiful grounds.
We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant who is warm, caring and adaptable to work in partnership with the class teacher and support children to make good progress in their learning. The appointment is required to start on 6 January 2025 and will be working in KS1 in the morning and Early Years in the afternoons.
The role will include working with individuals and groups of children, motivating them to do their very best, helping them to overcome any difficulties they may be having with their learning and enabling them to achieve their next steps.
You will provide a strong role-model of spoken English for children and support them to understand new concepts and to express themselves clearly.
An important aspect of the role will be leading reading groups and phonics keep-up groups, as part of our systematic, synthetic phonics programme, Little Wandle. Full training will be provided for this.
The role will also include supervision of a class of pupils during their lunch time.
We have a very committed staff team who love their roles within school. Our learning support staff are a vital part of our teaching teams and contribute to planning, assessment and feedback.
Experience of working in a similar role would be ideal, however those applicants who have suitable qualities in engaging with children and the willingness to learn will be considered because in-school training is available.
