ELSA and LSA position

Job Introduction

Full Time EYFS / Year 1 HLTA (AMs) and ELSA for the whole school (PMs)

  

We are looking to appoint a committed and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant who has got ELSA experience or willingness to undertake training.  Selborne C of E (Aided) Primary School is a small, friendly, rural school, with a strong reputation within the community. Our children are supported by a dedicated team who work together to achieve the highest standards possible and who are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. 

  

We are looking for someone who:

 

  • Has a robust approach to safeguarding and understands it is everyone’s responsibility to keep children safe
  • Has HLTA status (or equivalent) and has experience of working in a Reception or KS1 class
  • Is suitably qualified for the post of ELSA or willingness to undertake training
  • Is friendly but professional and discrete maintaining confidentiality at all times
  • Has a calm and positive approach 
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills with children and adults verbally and written
  • Can support children with a range of needs, including those with social, emotional, and communication difficulties
  • Has an optimistic attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job
  • Demonstrates empathy with our Church school ethos and our Christian values
  • Has high expectations for behavior and learning for all children and demonstrate a commitment to inclusion
  • Is passionate about raising achievement and supporting children’s well-being
  • Enjoys working as part of a small team

Please be aware that shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online search prior to interview.

This role is exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced certificate. This role is in regulated activity and will therefore require and children’s barred list check.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit a self-disclosure of their criminal history (UK and Overseas offences) and any other information that may affect their suitability to work with children.
