About the Role
We are looking to appoint a caring, motivated and skilled Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) who will also provide Learning Support Assistant (LSA) support within Key Stage 2. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing while helping them succeed academically.
The successful candidate will deliver emotional literacy interventions for pupils who require additional support with emotional regulation, confidence, friendships and resilience. Alongside this, they will work within KS2 classrooms to support teaching and learning and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
ELSA Responsibilities
Deliver planned emotional literacy interventions to individual pupils and small groups in KS2.
Support pupils in developing emotional awareness, resilience, self-esteem and positive relationships.
Provide a safe, supportive space for children to explore and manage their emotions.
Work closely with the SENCo, pastoral team and class teachers to plan and review interventions.
Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to review meetings where appropriate.
LSA Responsibilities
Support teaching and learning within KS2 classrooms under the direction of the class teacher.
Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with additional needs.
Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and maintaining engagement with learning.
Support behaviour management strategies and promote positive attitudes to learning.
Help prepare resources and contribute to creating an inclusive classroom environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
ELSA training (or willingness to undertake ELSA training).
Experience working with primary-aged children.
A strong understanding of children’s emotional wellbeing and development.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Patience, empathy and a commitment to supporting every child to thrive.
