SALARY: Grade 7 (£32,061 - £36,361 FTE; actual salary £15,642 - £17,740)

Join Our Team as a Family Support Worker

Shirley Infant and Junior Schools are seeking a compassionate and proactive Family Support Worker to help children and families thrive. In this vital role, you'll provide targeted support to ensure pupils are provided with a safe and secure environment, working closely with parents, school staff, and external agencies to foster a positive and inclusive school.

Key responsibilities include liaising with parents to ensure pupils and families are supported and signposted where appropriate, facilitating information sessions for families, and strengthening home-school connections through outreach and engagement.

WE ARE SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL WITH: 

  • Strong communication skills – Able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and external agencies through clear and empathetic communication.
  • Experience in supporting families with social, emotional, and behavioural needs – Understanding the needs of our families and providing tailored support to help children and families thrive.
  • Proactive and organised – Capable of planning and delivering support activities and events for families while managing competing priorities.
  • Empathetic and patient – Able to listen, engage, and offer guidance to children and families facing challenges, fostering a supportive school environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures – Demonstrates awareness of safeguarding principles, ensuring children's welfare and appropriate reporting.
  • Ability to work independently – Skilled in managing workload, making decisions on day-to-day matters, and prioritising tasks effectively.
  • Competent in IT and administrative tasks – Comfortable using school systems like Bromcom and Microsoft programmes to maintain documentation and reports
