Heatherside Infant School are excited to be looking to appoint a professional, enthusiastic and adaptable Finance Assistant to join our friendly team.
Our school values are: Respect « Kindness « Integrity« Togetherness « Resilience « Creativity
We are looking for a Finance Assistant who absolutely embodies these attributes. The Finance Assistant is an essential part of the office team, and whilst the role is primarily finance focused, there are some general admin/office/school responsibilities incorporated into this role and an ability and willingness to work within a team, as well as with parents and children, is essential.
Experience of working in a school office is desirable, as a school office is like no other office – particularly in an infant school! Interruptions and changes of plan are frequent and can be varied and unpredictable – no day is the same!
The successful candidate will:
- Have proven financial experience (preferably in an educational setting)
- Support the Admin Officer with varied financial tasks involving (but not limited to) pay, purchasing and lettings, as well as with tasks relating to Health and Safety
- Maintain accurate financial records and support with budget monitoring and reporting
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Be an integral part of the office team, answering the phone, liaising with parents and children
- Be efficient yet thorough, with excellent attention to detail
- Be proficient in using a variety of software programmes, including Microsoft Office, and be able to learn new systems quickly
- Have excellent communication skills with children and adults, verbally and written
- Administer first aid as required (training will be provided)
- Be kind, respectful and appreciative of people from all backgrounds
- Be friendly, but professional and discreet, maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Be unflappable (on the surface anyway!) and able to cope with noise, interruptions and last minute changes of plan with equanimity
- Have a robust sense of humour
- Be happy to work flexibly, especially during busy periods
- Have a commitment to the wellbeing and safeguarding of children
We can offer:
- A friendly, supportive and professional staff team
- Friendly, happy and well-behaved children and a lovely parent body
- Training and induction to support you in your role
- Excellent office facilities with a ready supply of biscuits!
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- Free onsite parking
The role profile does provide a list of typical responsibilities, but as outlined above, a degree of flexibility will be required and there may be other tasks that may be requested by the Admin Officer or Senior Leadership Team!
