Job Introduction
We are looking for an enthusiastic, aspirational person to join our wonderful team at Wherwell Primary as a Finance/Admin Officer from September 2025. The postholder will work closely with our current admin team and undertake admin tasks as needed but will predominantly be responsible for all financial matters. This is a great opportunity for someone who is a 'Team Player' and who has a 'can do' attitude to get things done. Experience of school finance is desirable.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working in a school and as part of a team.
- Has excellent multi-tasking skills, alongside the ability to manage challenging situations calmly, positively and professionally in a busy environment.
- Is a confident and capable communicator, both written and verbally.
- A good knowledge of school finance and personnel.
- Is able to manage the school budget and provide reports for governing body meetings.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
- Has excellent literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Headteacher in the preparation, management and monitoring of the school budget.
- Preparing regular financial reports for the Headteacher and governors.
- Effectively managing and maintaining day-to-day financial systems within the school
- Assist with the overview of the tendering exercise and make recommendations.
- Make requisitioning procedures including guidance on best value suppliers.
- Liaise with other staff on financial and administrative aspects of their work.
- Overseeing data protection procedures.
- Work alongside the caretaker to manage the school site and building maintenance.
- Maintain and control the school's inventory.
- Provide admin support to the team when required.
