Job Introduction
Location: North Baddesley Junior School
Contract Type: Term Time Only
Hours: 8:30 - 4:00 Monday to Friday
Start Date: 1st September 2026
Salary: Grade D (dependent on experience)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to take a leading role in our pastoral provision while delivering high-quality teaching to small groups across the school.
This is a unique opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about supporting the whole child. The successful candidate will take responsibility for running our pastoral base and help us to shape the vision of this new provision— a nurturing, inclusive environment designed to support pupils with a range of social, emotional, and learning needs.
The role will include planning and delivering targeted interventions, leading small group teaching sessions, and providing tailored support to help every child thrive. You will play a key role in implementing “soft start” approaches for identified pupils, ensuring a positive and supportive beginning to the school day. You will also lead sensory circuits and develop engaging outdoor learning experiences that promote regulation, wellbeing, and active engagement.
This role would suit an individual with a strong background in Special Educational Needs (SEN), or a committed and experienced teacher who is looking to step away from full-time whole class responsibility while continuing to make a meaningful impact on pupils’ learning and wellbeing.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has HLTA status (or equivalent experience)
- Has a strong understanding of pastoral support and inclusive practice
- Is confident in leading small group teaching across a range of abilities
- Can design and deliver effective interventions
- Has experience (or a keen interest) in sensory integration approaches and outdoor learning
- Is adaptable, patient, and committed to meeting the individual needs of pupils
In return, we offer a supportive and collaborative school environment, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to make a real difference to the lives of our learners.
If you are enthusiastic about nurturing children’s wellbeing while supporting their academic progress, we would love to hear from you.
