An exciting opportunity has arisen at St. James’ CEC Primary School, in the beautiful town of Emsworth. 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with the skills and knowledge to support children in all stages of primary education or a person willing to train for this qualification. You will be expected to cover classes by delivering lessons set by the class teacher that may be part of regular PPA release, management release or staff absence. You will also be deployed as a teaching assistant, supporting all pupils to make their best possible progress, including pupils with an Education Health and Care Plan. This will involve ensuring pupil’s safety, supporting pupils to flourish within our curriculum, utilising their academic strengths and interests whilst supporting their social-emotional development and carrying out small group tasks and identified interventions.

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold an HLTA qualification or is willing to work towards one and has a secure knowledge of primary education.
  • Has GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C or above and a Level 3 teaching and learning qualification. 
  • Is motivated, positive, hardworking and willing to join an enthusiastic team.
    Is able to demonstrate high expectations for learning and behaviour, working within the schools policies and procedures.
  • Champions children and puts their needs and well-being at the forefront of the purpose of their role. 
  • Is professionally discreet and able to respect confidentiality.
  • Communicates well with children, colleagues and parents.
