Job Introduction
Are you interested in teaching but do not hold a teaching qualification?
Are you interested in working with young people in an educational environment?
Are you looking to gain classroom experience to further your career?
Do you need school-based experience before taking up a teaching qualification?
We are excited to be looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a new role within the school and will involve assuming whole class responsibility for teaching and learning. You will be delivering the lessons planned under professional direction of the qualified teacher. The role will involve working across the whole primary school – on some days this may be moving between classes during the day, on other days working with groups of pupils to support their learning. Your timetable will be exciting and varied.
This role can be adapted to include your strengths and passions – if you have a particular interest in music, art, computing or another subject area, we can work with you to include this in your timetable. We are also developing our outdoors so if Outdoor Learning is of interest please let us know.
This job opportunity would suit someone who is just getting into teaching and would like further time to develop their classroom practice, under the guidance and support of a fantastic team. Equally, if you are returning to teaching after a break and would like time to adapt back into life in the classroom, without the planning expectations, then we would love to hear from you. If you are an experienced TA with experience teaching whole classes, and are interested in a change of role, please contact the office to discuss this further – we would be pleased to hear from you.
We can offer:
- Friendly and enthusiastic pupils who are keen to learn and succeed
- A supportive and friendly whole school team
- Clear procedures and policies to support the role
- Full planning and resourcing provided by class teacher for lessons covered
- Regular training and support linked to the role
- A full induction to support you
We would like to appoint a person who:
- is flexible, reliable and a good team player
- puts the child first and the safeguarding pupils at the heart of everything
- can build positive relationships with staff and pupils
- has experience working in a primary school
- has experience covering whole classes across the primary phases
- has the ability to independently deliver lessons to the whole class that have been planned by the class teacher
- can demonstrate good subject knowledge in English and Maths
(Please refer to the role profile on our website)

Lots of information is on our website for you to view and read. Please phone the office if you would like a tour or to speak to someone further.
