Job Title: Inclusion Practitioner

Contract: Full-time, full year (including holiday provision)

Responsible to: Headteacher / Inclusion Lead (SENCo)

Full-time, 52 weeks per year

At Pennington C of E Primary School, we are seeking a practical, hands-on and highly relational individual to join our team, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those who may feel disengaged from traditional classroom learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver meaningful, alternative learning experiences that build confidence, resilience and a sense of success.

About the Role

You will work closely with staff to:

  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs through practical, engaging activities
  • Deliver alternative curriculum sessions such as outdoor learning, cooking, craft and vocational-style projects
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that support positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Plan and lead structured sessions with clear outcomes and purpose
  • Contribute to developing inspiring learning environments and opportunities across the school

This is a role for someone who enjoys being active, creative and highly involved in day-to-day school life.


What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH and/or SEND
  • Understands barriers to learning and is committed to inclusive practice
  • Can engage and motivate pupils who may be reluctant learners
  • Has practical skills (or a willingness to develop them), for example:
    • Gardening and outdoor learning
    • DIY or woodwork
    • Cooking and life skills
    • General maintenance-style tasks
  • Is organised, flexible and able to plan purposeful activities
  • Brings a calm, patient and resilient approach, even in challenging situations
  • Is positive, solution-focused and ready to “roll up their sleeves”

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a school or similar setting
  • Qualifications in childcare, education or youth work
  • Outdoor learning or Forest School experience
  • Experience developing projects or learning environments
  • First aid qualification
  • Experience running enrichment or holiday programmes

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time, including during school holidays
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the role
  • Physical ability to participate in outdoor and practical activities
