An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the caring and dedicated team at Compton All Saints’ Church of England Primary School. We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic and child-centred Learning Support Assistant to work within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) class and become an integral part of our school family.
Compton All Saints is a small rural primary school near Winchester where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. Our vision, "Small School, Big Hearts, Endless Hope," is at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on our nurturing ethos, strong relationships and inclusive approach, and we are seeking someone who shares these values and is passionate about helping young children develop a lifelong love of learning.
The successful candidate will support children’s learning and development within our EYFS classroom, working closely with the class teacher to create an engaging, stimulating and nurturing environment where all children can thrive. This role will involve supporting learning through play, delivering small group and individual interventions, encouraging children's independence, and helping to meet the needs of all learners, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We are looking for someone who is flexible, proactive and able to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues. Experience of working with young children in a school or early years setting would be advantageous, but we are equally keen to hear from individuals who are enthusiastic, willing to learn and committed to making a difference.
At Compton All Saints, we strongly believe in investing in our staff and offer ongoing professional development, support and training opportunities. In return, you will join a friendly, hardworking team that genuinely feels like a family and is committed to ensuring the very best outcomes for every child.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience of working with children, preferably within an early years or school setting.
- Be passionate about supporting young children's learning, development and wellbeing.
- Have GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Be able to support learning through play and planned classroom activities.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Work effectively alongside the Class Teacher, SENCO and other professionals to meet children's individual needs.
- Support children with SEND, social and emotional needs, and barriers to learning with patience and empathy.
- Be flexible, proactive and willing to contribute to all aspects of school life.
- Uphold confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
- Be calm, positive and resilient when working in a busy school environment.
- Share our commitment to inclusion, kindness and high aspirations for all children.
In return, we can offer:
- A warm, welcoming and supportive school community.
- Wonderful children who are enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn.
- A strong commitment to inclusion and ensuring every child flourishes.
- A friendly and dedicated staff team that works closely together.
- High-quality professional development and training opportunities.
- A beautiful rural setting with extensive outdoor learning opportunities.
- The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our children and families.
- A school where relationships matter and where staff wellbeing is valued.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. If you would like an informal conversation about the role or to arrange a visit, please contact the school office.
