Learning Support Assistant - Fixed Term

Job Introduction

Lymington Junior School is a thriving, happy school set in the coastal market town of Lymington, bordering the New Forest National Park.   

We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming team, to provide support to our wonderful children who are enthusiastic and joyful, both in their day-to-day conduct and attitude to learning.  

You need not to have worked in a school environment previously, but have the ambition to support the children in our school.  We provide continuous support and training.  Some flexibility may be considered around the working hours of the day.  We offer free wraparound provision in our breakfast and afterschool clubs, for children of parents who work at our lovely school.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be enthusiastic and proactive with a “can do attitude”
  • Be a good team player, with a good sense of humour 
  • Have a positive and kind approach
  • Help the children develop and motivate them to learn
  • English and Maths GCSE (Grade C or 4/5)
  • Is able to maintain confidentiality at all times and be aware of safeguarding procedures

Hours                       Monday to Friday (term time only) 8.45am – 3.15pm 

Salary                      £24,976 - £26,244 pro rata (B1-C5 depending upon experience)

Closing date             Tuesday 16th June 2026

Interview date          Friday 19th June 2026

Contract                   Fixed term: 1 September 2026 – 21 July 2027
