Job role and responsibilities – Key requirements
Essential Qualities:
- GCSE English and Maths A-C or equivalent
- Experience working with or volunteering with children of Primary age
- Able to apply effective behaviour management strategies with a level of skill that demonstrates a caring, non-judgemental approach whilst remain clear and firm with expectations
- An understanding of ways in which children learn and appropriate learning environments
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to keep accurate records of pupils’ progress and assessments
- Able to use initiative and prioritise, demonstrating a flexible approach
- A child-centred person willing to create, nurture and build trusting relationships, working alongside children, being a co-adventurer, communicating and facilitating learning.
- Strong communication skills
- Able to help children validate and manage their own feelings and those of others, appropriately.
- A patient individual with a consistently calm and positive approach
- Resilient and hard working
- A team player
Desirable Qualities:
- Previous experience of working as an LSA
- Recent training or experience in the delivery of specific structured interventions
- Experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs
- Experience of delivering support programmes from the schools therapy services (eg. Speech and Language or Occupational Therapy)
- Experience in the use of Makaton, PECS or other communication supports
- Child care qualification or a degree
- Interest in running lunch time provision to support our children in specific areas of development

The LSA role equates to approximately 30 hours per week as a Learning Support Assistant plus 2.5 hours as lunchtime support.
This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2026.
The salary can be negotiated based on experience at the point of appointment.
