Learning Support Assistant

Job Introduction

Nestled at the heart of our village, our school offers a rewarding role for someone looking to become a key part of a small, friendly community. Your day begins by helping welcome a small, familiar group of children into the warmth of our Breakfast Club where pupils start their morning in a calm and welcoming environment. As the day progresses, you’ll move into the classroom to support learning in our mixed year 1/2 class. You will then provide support at lunchtime either helping in the dining hall or supervising play in our beautiful grounds. This job provides the opportunity to help our children flourish in a supportive environment where every face is known and every contribution is truly valued. For the right candidate additional hours might be available to further support learning in the afternoons through small group or 1:1 interventions.

  • Have a child-centred approach

  • Have the ability to work in a KS1 classroom but enjoy interacting with children of all ages

  • Have the ability to keep pupils motivated and engaged

  • Have a calm but firm approach

  • Be able to adapt and think on your feet

  • Be flexible and willing to learn

  • Be able to work as part of a team, learning with and from other colleagues

  • Be able to work independently and on your own initiative

  • Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills

  • Understand confidentiality and safeguarding procedures

  • Provide a safe, secure, inclusive environment where all pupils are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.

  • Encouraging pupils to have creative and enquiring minds as confident, resilient and happy learners with good mental and physical health.
