Job Introduction
We are a small school with big opportunities! Icknield is an Outstanding special school for pupils with severe learning difficulties aged 3-19 years. However, the true beauty of our school is that we are a small site and everyone here is part of the close knit ‘Icknield Family’. We all know all of our children, each other and every individual in our family is valued and cared for.
We are highly ambitious for our pupils, and we follow our own personalised curriculum based on developing key attributes needed to maximise pupil’s ability to have a positive influence on and control over their own lives: PPICC (Personal, Physical, Independence, Cognition and Communication).
Our school’s strap line is ‘Your journey matters’ and that is true for both pupils and staff.
Teaching and Learning takes place in small class groups with a high level of support and a well-differentiated curriculum to meet individual needs.
We are looking to recruit a conscientious, enthusiastic and energetic learning support assistant, who is resourceful, motivated and can inspire our pupils. You will require:
- basic literacy and numeracy skills
- be empathetic to pupil needs
- be professionally discreet and respect confidentiality
- have good interpersonal skills and a sense of humour
- be a good team worker with a positive outlook
We look at barriers as obstacles to be overcome rather than reasons to not attempt something that is difficult and are very proud of the range of experiences our pupils have.
Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a temporary position, initially until end December 2025, but with the option to be made permanent for the right candidate. The hours are 8.45am to 3.15pm, 30 hours per week, term-time only. There is no option, on this occasion, to work for less than these times.
Please email sarah.greenwood@icknield.hants.sch.uk for an application pack. Advert closes at 5pm, Monday, 8th September 2025. Please note we prefer applications to be emailed using the attached word document.
