Calmore Junior School could be the school for you! We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and caring LSA to join our successful and aspirational school to work alongside our friendly and supportive team to secure the best outcomes for all children 5 days a week. The position is for 27.50 hours per week LSA role. 

The candidates will work under the supervision of the class teacher and SENCO. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has good levels of English and Maths (GCSE pass) 
  • Can work 1:1 with children with additional needs who may have challenging behaviours
  • Is able to work under the direction of the class teacher, as well as use their initiative to work independently
  • Has experience in leading small group interventions
  • Is well organised
  • Is positive and proactive
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills
  • A knowledge of teaching and supporting children with speech and language and learning needs. 
  • Is conscientious and enthusiastic
  • Is able to maintain confidentiality at all times and be aware of specific safeguarding procedures
  • Is a team player
  • Has an understanding of children’s development (particularly social and emotional)
  • Is aware of emotion coaching and trauma informed practice

 

Our staff are supportive and there are always opportunities for professional development. The successful candidate will be part of the school team and must relate well and build relationships with pupils, parents and staff alike.

The successful applicant will be positive, enjoy working as part of a team, offer a common sense approach, a “can do” attitude and have an inclusive approach to education.  An active interest in education and experience of working with children is preferable. Candidates should indicate on their application any experience they have of using interventions for pupils in school.

Basic skills in English, Maths and ICT should be secure and competent. Any other areas of special expertise/interests that the candidate holds would be welcomed and should be indicated in the application.

The position is to start as soon as possible following appropriate safeguarding checks. Visits to the school are encouraged.
