Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) Supervisor

Job Introduction

At Vigo Primary School, we are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and organised individual to lead our lunchtime supervisory team and help create a positive, engaging and safe play environment for all pupils.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is passionate about the importance of play in supporting children's wellbeing, social development and enjoyment of school. The successful candidate will supervise and support our team of Midday Supervisory Assistants, promote positive behaviour, organise engaging play opportunities and work closely with school leaders to continually enhance the lunchtime experience for our pupils.

As our Midday Supervisory Assistant Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead, support and coordinate the lunchtime supervisory team.
  • Ensure the safety, welfare and positive behaviour of pupils during the lunchtime period.
  • Promote inclusive, enjoyable and engaging play opportunities for children of all ages.
  • Help develop and implement initiatives that encourage active and creative play.
  • Monitor and maintain playground equipment and resources, ensuring they are used safely and effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding pupil welfare, behaviour and any lunchtime concerns.
  • Support the school's positive behaviour approach and encourage respectful relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with school leaders to review and continually improve lunchtime provision.
  • Assist with basic first aid and pupil welfare matters when required following appropriate training.

  • Understands the importance of play and the positive impact it has on children's wellbeing and development.
  • Takes responsibility for playground resources and encourages others to do the same.
  • Is flexible, proactive and resourceful.
  • Is confident in providing guidance and support to colleagues and having difficult conversations when necessary.
  • Understands confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
  • Is willing to undertake First Aid training.
  • Can act as a positive role model for children and staff.
