Position: Midday Supervisory Assistant

Location: Rownhams St John’s CE Primary School

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: Permanent, term time only

Hours: 12.00pm – 1.20pm, Monday to Friday

Salary: Support Staff, Grade A — salary/rate to be confirmed

Closing Date: Friday 12th June

Interview Date: To be arranged

We are looking for a caring, positive and reliable Midday Supervisory Assistant to join our team at Rownhams St John’s CE Primary School.

This is an important role in our school. Lunchtimes should be a time when children feel safe, happy and included. We want every child to enjoy eating, playing and spending time with others. The successful candidate will help us create calm, kind and positive lunchtimes for all children.

The Role

As a Midday Supervisory Assistant, you will:

  • Supervise children in the lunch hall, classrooms, playgrounds, play areas and field

  • Help children to eat their lunch safely and happily

  • Encourage good manners, kindness and positive play

  • Support younger children with practical skills, such as using a knife and fork

  • Help set up and tidy the lunch hall, including tables and chairs

  • Listen to children and support them with small worries or friendship issues

  • Follow the school’s behaviour, safeguarding, first aid, health and safety procedures

  • Work as part of a friendly team to make lunchtimes safe, calm and enjoyable

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children

  • Is kind, calm and positive

  • Communicates well with children and adults

  • Can help children play safely and treat others with respect

  • Is reliable, punctual and willing to work outside across the year

  • Can work well as part of a team

  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding

  • Has experience of working with children, or is keen to learn
