Job Introduction
Are you passionate about early years education and ready to bring your experience and enthusiasm to a nurturing, well-established school community?
We are thrilled to be opening our new school-based nursery and are looking for a caring, dedicated, and experienced Level 3 Nursery Learning Support Assistant to join our team.
At South Wonston Primary School, we believe that a child’s first experiences of learning should be filled with joy, curiosity, and care. Our nursery provides a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to explore. We are proud to offer extensive outdoor spaces, high-quality resources, and a supportive team, all designed to help our children flourish in their earliest years.
This is a one-year fixed-term position in the first instance, with the potential to extend, and is suitable for a candidate qualified to Level 3 in Early Years or Childcare.
As part of our school-based nursery, you will benefit from being part of a thriving primary school community, with access to experienced staff, professional development opportunities, and a leadership team that truly values its staff.
What We Offer:
A nurturing school environment – where staff and children are valued, supported, and encouraged to grow.
High-quality training and development – access to school-led CPD, mentoring, and career progression pathways.
A well-resourced nursery – purposefully designed indoor and outdoor learning spaces, filled with engaging resources to spark curiosity.
Extensive outdoor learning opportunities – making the most of our beautiful school grounds to support children’s development.
A strong, supportive team – working collaboratively with experienced early years practitioners and primary staff.
A full induction package – to ensure you feel confident and well-supported in your role.
Staff well-being initiatives – including tea and coffee provided, an email curfew, and leadership committed to staff work-life balance.
The Role:
You will work closely with our nursery team to create a caring, engaging, and enriching environment for our 3 and 4 year-old children. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting children’s learning and development through purposeful play, exploration, and adult-led activities.
Encouraging social skills, independence, and confidence in young learners.
Helping to establish clear routines that create a calm and supportive environment.
Planning and delivering activities that promote the EYFS curriculum, in collaboration with the nursery lead.
Observing, recording, and contributing to the assessment of children's progress.
Supporting children with additional needs where required.
Assisting with personal care and ensuring children’s well-being at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
A Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare (essential).
Experience of working in an early years setting, particularly with 3–4-year-olds.
A genuine love for working with young children and supporting their development.
A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach, with a good sense of humour.
A clear understanding of the EYFS framework and child development.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Good English, Maths, and IT skills.
If you are enthusiastic, nurturing, and eager to be part of a fantastic school-based nursery, we would love to hear from you!
