Pupil Progress Lead – Transform Student Achievement

At The Hayling College, we are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner to take on the role of Pupil Progress Lead — a key position aimed at improving achievement and outcomes for all learners, especially those at risk of underperforming.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is looking to grow in leadership while still making a direct impact in the classroom. You will lead on pupil progress strategies, interventions, and data analysis, while continuing to teach your subject specialism at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching your subject specialism (English, Maths or Science) to KS3 and KS4 students.
- Leading on the tracking and monitoring of pupil progress data, identifying gaps and trends.
- Designing and overseeing intervention strategies to support identified learners.
- Working with Heads of Department, pastoral leads, and senior leaders to raise achievement.
- Championing a culture of high expectations, equity, and academic ambition across the school.
- Opportunities to innovate and shape school-wide strategies
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications & Experience:
- A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) in English, Maths or Science.
- Proven success in raising achievement and supporting student progress.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence using data to drive decision-making.
- A collaborative leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Someone who is committed to inclusion, challenge, and closing the attainment gap.
Skills & Qualities:
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths, or Science, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Proven ability to analyse data and translate it into effective classroom and whole-school interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- High level of organisation and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience or interest in leading or contributing to initiatives that raise achievement.
- Skilled in using technology and school systems to track and monitor progress (e.g., Pupil Progress, Arbor, Excel).
